History of the temple:

Siruvapuri is a village area located in Thiruvallur districut, near by chennai. Here the oldest Murugar temple is located.

The Temple main god is Lord Balasubramaniyar. Powerful god. This temple is specially worshipped by devotes to get quick marriage auction. There are lots of devotes got blessings from Lord balamuruga and fixed marriage in few months.



The area is located near by Arani(famous for silk sarres and materials). There is evidance to be a part in great epic Ramayanam. There is one part called "Araniyagaandam".(which tells about the area ARANI). In this area, the children of RAMA, Lava and Kusa made battle with their own father without knowing that he is his father.

The area is also called as "Chinnambedu" = Siruvar ambu edu (means children took their arrows for battle).

Once the lady named "Murugammai" worshipped Lord muruga, It was not accepted by his Husband. so he cut her hand. And the Lord Muruga appears infront of Murugammai and blessed her to join her hands without any signs of wounds.

Around 45 KM's from Chennai and Just 2 Km away from National Highways-5(Chennai kolkatta high ways).

Can Reach by Bus from Ponneri, Redhills and Gummidipoondi.

Also specials buses are offered by Chennai-MTC on every Tuesdays from Chennai Koyambedu CMBT.

  1. I heard about the history of this temple from many people. So I went to this temple few days back.I was really shocked because the temple is not maintained and it is in the worst condition.

    Such a famous temple but it is not maintained properly is a disgrace
