About
Where the Goddess Mahishasura Mardhini Amman is the major deity, it is not something intermittent to find miracles to happen. Such is the power of Goddess Shakthi, regardless of the form she takes. She is the divine mother full of love and peace, but never shies off from taking the most furious forms to protect her devotees, just like the Mahishasura Marthini. Small temples are her abodes, if her devotees shower her with devotion and love.
History And Specialties
The revered mother takes the form of Mahishasura Mardhini/Mardini near Tiruvallur, in the little known town of Mathur. Managed by the Thiruthani temple management the Matthur temple is famous for the face of the deity. The goddess has a smiling face, which in spite of the asura lying at her feet in the most popular form. The idol is 10 feet high, and the goddess is seen with the most benevolent face. You can find this temple dedicated only to the goddess. When I stepped into the small temple before 10 years, I was not sure how it would be. My father insisted it must be visited on our way back from Tirupathi. I was quite skeptic because there was no proper structure for the temple. It had an asbestos roof, and about a dozen people were there, in spite of the day being Chitra Pournami. The diety’s Shanta Swaroopam(smiling face) was impressive enough to offer positive vibrations.
Our Author Family's Personal Experience
My father who had visited this place earlier again informed that the neem leaves in the tree of the temple is never bitter. I tasted it, only to find it ultimately true.
A Miracle Happened
Then I heard the story from the temple management people. When the localities were witnessing, an attempt was made to install railway lines in this area. But some reason kept them off from it, and one fine day, the road was cleared to continue the task, only to find the Devi statue. The statue dates back to historic times, while this incident is only a couple of decades back. The statue that was 10 feet high was installed under simple roof structure. Now, the temple complex is quite big, and still the goodness gracefully smiles at her devotees. The neem tree leaves too are sweet, when I tasted them only 3 months back.
