Tirthankara refers to a spiritual teacher in Jainism. The first Tirthankara was Rishabhanatha, and Lord Mahavira was the last Jain Tirthankara. Statues serve as a tourist attraction as well as a mark of respect and loyalty.
The world's tallest Jain statue is found in Mangi Tungi and
Sravanabelagola.
1. The Statue Of Ahimsa, Mangi-Tungi
The Statue of Ahimsa is the world's highest Jain statue,
and it belongs to Rishabhanatha, the first Jain Tirthankara. The figure, which
stands 108 feet tall, was carved out of the Mangi-Tungi hills near
Nashik.
More than 100 monks are said to have gained Siddhi
(Nirvana, Enlightenment) at this location. Many Hindu Gods have also visited
this location. This location is ideal for hikers.
2. Gommateshwara Statue, Shravanbelagola
Shravanbelagola's Gommateshwara Statue, located on
Vindyagiri hill, is an old Jain center. Gommateshwara's 57-foot-tall statue is
one of Karnataka's five monolithic Gommateshwara statues. The other four are
Gommateshwara at Karkala, Gommateshwara at Dharmasthala, Gommateshwara at
Venur, and Gommatagiri.
The Gomateshwara Temple, popularly known as Bahubali Temple,
is located in Shravanabelagola. Vindhyagiri and Chandragiri are the two hills
that makeup Shravanabelagola. On Vindhyagiri Hill, there is a 58-foot-tall
monolithic statue of Bahubali. An inscription on the base of the statue honors
the king who funded the project and his general, Chavundaraya, who created the
statue for his mother. The Bahubali statue is gorgeous as well as generous.
This monolithic statue was created in 983 A.D. and is magnificent in
appearance. At a distance of 30 kilometers, the Gomateshwara Statue may be
seen.
3. Adinatha Statue, Bawangaja
The Bawangaja temple is one of Madhya Pradesh's most
well-known Jain pilgrimage sites. This temple, which is located in the Barwani
area, is famed for the statue of Lord Adinatha, the first Tirthankara, which is
carved out of the side of the Satpura range of mountains in the central region
of the Indian subcontinent.
The size, position, and sculpture of the statue, which is
carved out of a single rock, are all outstanding. It is carved right in the
heart of the Satpura mountain range at a height of 1300 feet, at the base of
the mountain, and stands 84 feet tall. This temple is designed similarly to
other well-known Jain temples in India.
4. Mahavira Statue, Ahinsa Sthal
Mahavira was the last Jain Tirthankara to tour the length
and breadth of India. The Ahinsa Sthal in Mehrauli, Delhi, is home to a
13-foot-six-inch-tall granite statue of Lord Mahavira.
5. Parshvanatha Statue, Vahelna
On the outskirts of Muzaffarnagar, Vahelna Jain
Mandir or Parshvnath Digamber Jain Atishye Chetra can be found. Vahelna Temple,
located 4 kilometers from Muzaffarnagar's core city, has a long and illustrious
history.
The temple is a Jain Mandir, a historically and religiously
significant site for Jains. Shri 1008 Parshvnath Digamber Jain Atishye Kshetra
is another name for the temple. The temple's major feature is an ancient statue
of Lord Parshvanatha. The statue of Moolnayak Bhagwan Parshvnath, the
twenty-third Tirthankara of Jainism, is 31 feet tall on Vahelna's land. A
Naturopathy Hospital and Research Centre is located on campus and provides
healthcare utilizing natural medicines.
6. Rishabhdev Statue, Bada Gaon
Bada Gaon is a village in the Bagpat area with a notable
idol of Lord Parshvanath and a 31-foot-tall Rishabhdev statue. Bada Gaon Temple
is a popular tourist destination throughout the year. This majestic temple,
which dates back several centuries, is dedicated to Parshvanatha, Jainism's
23rd spiritual master. The main idol of Parshvanatha, fashioned of white marble
and put inside the temple, is said to have been discovered in a well.
7. Munisuvrata Statue, Pune
Munisuvrata was the Jain Tirthankara's twentieth
Tirthankara, and the famed Shri 1008 Shantinath Digambar Jain Mandir in
Indapur, Pune, is dedicated to him. The tallest statue of Munisuvrata is found
at Shantinath Jain Mandir, currently known as Golden Temple.
8. Parshavanatha Statue, Varur
The Navagraha Jain Temple at Varur, near Hubli, is an
important Jain pilgrimage site in South India. The temple houses India's
tallest monolithic statue of Bhagavan Parshvanatha, as well as smaller statues
of India's other eight Jain Tirthankaras.
9. Bahubali Statue, Karkala
The 42-foot-tall Bahubali monument at Karkala is a popular
destination for religious Jain tourists. Karkala's Gommateshwara statue is one
of India's largest free-standing statues.
This is a must-see destination for everyone visiting
Karkala. This Bahubali or Gomateshwara monument is the second largest of its
kind.
In the form of this architectural marvel, a unique relic of
the place's rich past can be readily seen. It is thought to have been built in
1432 AD by Veerapandya Bhairava Raja, the ruling king of the Pandya Dynasty at
the time. The statue was erected to honor Prince Bahubali, who meditated for 12
years while rejecting all worldly pleasures. Every 12 years, the Maha
Masthakaabhisheka festival is held, during which the statue is bathed in
saffron paste, milk, and water.
10. Vasupujya Statue, Champapur
The Vasupujya Statue, located in Champapur, Bihar, India,
is one of the tallest monuments in eastern India and India's highest statue of
Lord Vasupujya. The statue is dedicated to Vasupujya, the current cosmic age's
twelfth Jain Tirthankara. The statue stands 31 feet tall. At Sona Devi Sethi Charitable
Trust, Nagaland, built and gifted the statue. Champapur is a Siddhakshetra,
which means it is particularly important to the Jains.
11. Adinatha Statue, Gwalior
The Adinath statue in the Gopachal Parvat is the tallest of
the relief constructions and idols, standing at a height of 58 feet. It is a
statue of Lord Rishabhanatha, the first Jain Tirthankara, that is part of the
Gwalior Fort in Madhya Pradesh. Viramdev, Dungar Singh, and Kirti Singh, lords
of the Tomara Dynasty, carved the idol between 1398 and 1536 A.D.
12. Shantinath Statue, Karauli
Shri Mahaveer Ji temple is a well-known Jain pilgrimage
place in Rajasthan's Karauli district. At Shantinath Jinalaya, the 16th Jain
Tirthankara, there is an enormous 32-foot-high picture of Lord Shantinath.
Shri Mahavir Ji is a significant Jain pilgrimage destination in Rajasthan's Karauli region, located near Shri Mahaveerji town in Hindaun Block. Given the religious significance of the site, the Indian Railways has established Shri Mahabirji railway station in the West Central Railway zone, which is a 10-minute drive from the temple, and temple authorities have provided regular buses from the station to the temple.
