About this temple:

The Thiruvalangadu temple was built by King Cholas during the 5th century, and also the temple is also known for one of the five Sabhas. 

While angry Lord Shiva dancing angrly in Kailash, the anklets(SALANGAI in Tamil) from his leg spreaded over five different places.

To calm down the Lord Shiva from angry dancing, Kaaraikal ammayar walks from kailash to Thiruvalangadu by HAND and got Mukthi(Salvation in english) from Lord shiva.
