Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple | Arulmigu Subramania Swamy Temple

Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanya / Lord Murugan is one of the eminent ancient temples of India. It is one of the six abodes of Lord muruga known as"one of the Arupadaiveedu of Lord Murugan".  This eminent and magnificent temple is located in the Thiruparankundram town of Madurai district in Tamil nadu. Five prominent deities Shiva, Vishnu, Vinaygar, Subramanyar and goddess Durgambika grace from one cave temple.
There are enormous amount of devotees comes to this temple regularly to seek the blessings of Lord Muruga.



Temple History And Specials

  • Famous Sangam poet Nakkeerar has sung about this beautiful temple in along poem called "Thirumurugattrupadai". 
  • This is one of the six army camp of Lord Muruga called as "Arupadaiveedu".
  • This is the only temple where Abishekam is performed for "Vel", the weapon of Lord Muruga.
  • This temple was also praised by renkowned poets such as Nakkeerar, Thirugnanasambandhar, Thirunavukarasar, Manickavasagar and Sundarar.
  • The entrance of this magnificent cave temple leads to the shrines through a row of square pillars ornamented with lotus shaped medallions. 
  • This tmeple contains 41 rock cut inscriptions which describes the early period of the temple.
