Swamimalai Murugan Temple is an eminent Murugan temple of Tamilnadu. This magnificent temple is one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan known as Arupadaiveedu. The presiding deity, Swaminathaswamy is located atop a 60 ft from the foot hills and the sanctums of his mother goddess Meenakshi (Parvathi) and father Lord Shiva (Sundareswarar) is located in the roots of the hill. The temple has three gopuram (gateway towers), three precincts and sixty steps and each one is named after the sixty Tamil years.
The eminent annual festival Vaikasi Visagam is celebrated by milions of devotees from all corners of the state.
