Kumaran Kundram Murugan Temple Chrompet


Kumaran Kundram is the Lord Muruga’sa temple, and one of the recently constructed. This temple of Lord Muruga also has shrines for Shiva, Sarabeshwara, Vishnu, Anjaneya, Ambal, and Navagrahas too. Located on the way to Hasthinapuram, from Chrompet, the shrine is located on a hillock. Recently, the five tier Rajagopuram, and the mahakumbeshikam too was held. The temple also underwent painting and renovation for the consecration ceremony. A new hall, and the dwaja stambham, that is a flag mast also have been constructed.

History and Specials of Temple:


Sri Swaminatha Swamy temple of Kumaran Kundram is a 40 year old temple. Chandrasekara Saraswati Swamy, the Sankaracharya of Sankara Mutt, Kancheepuram, a seer of 20th century, wished for a temple to be constructed for Lord Muruga here. The place already had a Siddhi Vinayak temple was constructed. After 20 years, it was seen that when the devotees cleared the hillside, a lance was found. Lance also called the Vel is the weapon of Lord Muruga. This inspired the devotees and they started with the work and sped up the process.
Soorsamharam which falls on 6th day of waxing moon after Diwali, is the prime festival. This is the day when Lord Muruga won the war over Surapadman, a war that sings the victory of Good over Evil. Kartigai Deepam is also celebrated with splendor.
Every month on the New Moon Day, hundreds of devotees turn up here for circumambulation of the hill.
Prasanna Varadaraja Perumal temple is a small Vaishanavite temple opposite to the Sri Swaminatha Swamy temple.  Prasanna Varadaraja Perumal is the presiding diety, and Alarmel Mangai Thayar is the goddess. Lakshmi Narasimhar and Anjaneya are also found.
