Ketu - Shadow planet:
Ketu is one of the Navagrahas known for spirituality. According to the astrology, the person influenced by the planet is gifted with spiritual achievements. Ketu is descending lunar node in vedic. After the head of Svarbhanu, a demon was cut off by Lord Vishnu, his head and the body was joined with a snake to form Ketu, representing the body without a head and Rahu representing the head without a body. Ketu is a shadow planet. Ketu gives tremendous impact on human lives and also whole creation.
The people who come under the influence of Ketu can achieve great heights, most of them spiritual. Ketu is a headless half-planet, shadowy as Rahu and malefic, though not as malefic as Rahu. Ketu is also a half-planet that bestows wisdom, powers of discrimination and spiritual knowledge, the knowledge of the self. Mythology:
Ketu is the remaining body of the demon Rahu, after Lord Vishnu beheaded him. The severed head was taken by Simihika, the mother of demon Svarbhanu and nursed patiently. The head over a period of time got the body of serpent and he was named as Rahu. A Brahmin named Mini took the body. He brought up the body as his own son. To this body Lord Vishnu granted a serpent's head. This became Ketu.
Effects or Doshas of Ketu:
Ketu is the significator of following as per ' Uttara Kalamrita '. Medical practitioner, Vultures, Final emancipation, consumption, painful fevers, great penance, bath in ganges, wind complaints, mantra shastra, instability of mind, diseases in stomach and eye etc., It is observed that a strong Ketu generally gives good result and a malefic Ketu creates lots of hindrances in life. People with Ketu dosha effects may be inflicted with accidents and surgeries, poor concentration, unnecessary depression, boundless worries and anxiety problems and loss of property.
Ketu Dosha Remedies:
Ketu graha shanti puja along with doing the siddha yantra puja of Ketu. Puja, homam and yajna remedies for Ketu dosha are also recommended. Also wearing cat's - eye stone also helps in weakening the malefic effect of Ketu. Lord Ganesha is closely associated witg Ketu and is advised to worship Lord Ganesha to get rid off the evil effects.

Very famous temple for Ketu in Tamilnadu is Naganathaswamy temple in Nagapattinam, Kalahasthi in Andra Pradesh, Sheshapureeswarar temple in Thirupambaram, Srivanjiyam, Ketu pariharasthala near Chidambaram. Regular worship to Lord Ganesh, especially on Sundays and Tuesdays can please Lord Ketu.
