Thiruvasagam - Thiru Chaazhal
‘Saazhal’ refers to a kind of a game, which girls of early time used to play. According to this game, the player should raise a question about something which seems not acceptable by singing and deliver an answer for the same by herself. Poet ManickaVaasagar comprised a set of poems in this manner, thus explaining every minute detail of Lord Shiva under the name ‘ Thiruchaazhal’. This comes under ‘Naaladitharavu Kochagakkalippa’(நாலடித்தரவு கொச்சகக் கலிப்பா) and hence it can be set to musical expressions.
Verse:

Explanation:
Lord Shiva applies Venneeru throughout his body. He wears a vigorous snake around his neck. Do these activities apply to the eternal power, which we all call God? Yes, it applies. Because It is nothing but Siva who exists as nature and all living beings present in it. Hence it can a considered as a symbolization of the same.
For example, a country is made into existence by nature. But a movie which depicts and describes about that country is completely man-made. Similarly. Nature is the true form of God. Adorning that form with things like Venneeru, Snake and other things is completely the creativity of man. But it doesn’t stop in creativity alone. Every such action has some sort of philosophy in it. No religion can object to this truth. In fact, anything which is artistic and creative will contain the soul meaning of life in it. All living beings and Earth have a tendency to die someday. The only this which is devoid of death is the Supreme power. The things which are capable of being completely destructed are taken up by Fire, whereas the remaining of some things which cannot undergo complete destruction is Ash.
Even if one subjects this ash to repeated heating, it will remain as ash itself. Hence, this ash became the symbol of the Eternal soul. Among the Universe which has a nature of being destroyed someday, there is a power that is beyond death. Venneeru (ash) is applied to Shiva only to depict this philosophy of the Universe.

In the creation of God, the existence of good and bad things are in balance with each other. The bad things are indirectly stimulating the living beings to live and grow, in a consistent pace. Hence they are definitely required with no second option. This is the reason for the Snake which is worn by Shiva around his neck.
