About Tirupati Venkateswara Temple

Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala is the richest Hindu temple in world, in terms of receiving revenue. In fact, it was the richest temple in all categories until the assets of Tiruvananthapuram Padmanabaswamy temple was revealed. The temple is managed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam trust.


Architecture

The temple has 1180 stone engravings belonging to the various regimes of different kings. A few things followed in Tirumala are quite incredible in spite of the daily events. Inside the sanctum sanctorum only mud pots are allowed, and not the numerous silver and gold utensils. Also, the flowers used for the deity are left in the river behind, and never go out of the sanctum sanctorum.

Speciality

Tirumala Tirupati receives lakhs of devotees each day, and in fact is the temple to receive the highest number of devotees.  There are free entrances and entrances that cost ranging from 100 to huge sums are available. However, the bookings can be done only based on the availability. The devotees can also walk to the hilltop, and for such devotees the darshan is free and called divyadarshan.

How To Reach And Timings

It is easy to reach Tirupati from all parts of India. From here, numerous buses ply up and down throughout the day, except for the hours between 1 AM and 3 AM. This is the duration when no one is allowed to use the path to drive to the hilltop and no darshan does happen. In fact, the temple is open for all the 22 hours apart from these couple of hours.
