Pamban Swamigal got the name "Kumara Guru Dasa Swamigal" due to his profound love for Palani Murugan. His Sanskrit teacher named him as Kumara Guru and furthermore as Pamban Swamigal in light of the fact that Swamigal lived and left his family at Pamban Island.

Pamban Swamigal & Lord Muruga :

In December 1923 Pamban Swamigal had an accident as he got run over by a cart and his left lower leg was broken. He was admitted in the hospital and doctors suggested to take off his leg. Pamban Swamigal was just supplicating and said "Let them do what they need to do." On hearing the news Chinaswami Jothidar had strange confidence in Pamban Swamigal's Shanmuga Kavacam and began to recite it. Chinnaswamy Jothidar had a dream of the Vel entering Pamban Swamigal's wrecked lower leg. Wonderfully the leg was relieved in the hospital itself and Indeed, even English doctors were astonished on this heavenly elegance.

Jeeva Samadhi :

One day Pamban Swamigal called Chinaswami Jothidar went to search for a land in Tiruvanmiyur as his last days were close. Pamban Swamigal marked the floor corners with his leg that segment of land to be bought and all plans were made. On 30 May 1929 at 7:15 am, Pamban Swamigal called his devotees and encouraged them to have faith in Lord Muruga. At that point he took a full breath, held it inside his stomach and entered samadhi state. This shrine also has temple for Lord Muruga.
