Kal Garuda Bhagavan Temple:
Thirunaraiyur Nambi Temple is a Hindu Temple for Lord Vishnu, situated in Nachiyar Koil in Kumbakonam Taluk,Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Thirunaraiyur is broadly known as Nachiyar Koil. Presiding Deity is called as Thirunaraiyur Nambi/Vasudeva Perumal/Srinivasa Perumal and goddess is called as Vanjula Valli Thayar. The temple is celebrated in the Divya Prabandha.
It is considered as one and fourteenth of among the 108 Divya Desams to Lord Vishnu and has been commended by Thirumangai Azhwar in more than hundred songs. This Temple is the solitary Vaishnavite shrine worked by Kochengata Chola in Mada Kovil type and considered as one of the nine Vaishnava Navagraha Temples of Tamil Nadu and is related with the planet Mars (Sevvai).
Worshippin 'Kalgarudan' (Garuda made of stone) on Thursdays dissipates a wide range of doshas. Perumal's Garudaseva is the important tradition in this temple. Kal Garudar is the most noticeable entity and According to nearby legend, the stone worker who made the symbol of Garuda moved disappointed as the bird flew each time another picture was ready. In dissatisfaction, he tossed a stone at Garuda, who got harmed and chosen to remain in the sanctuary as "Kal Garuda".
