Yoga Narasimhar Temple :

Yoga Narasimha temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is located in Kumbakonam to Mayiladuthurai Bus route on the banks of River Cauvery. Narasinganpettai is 15 kms from Kumbakonam and 18 kms from Mayiladuthurai. Temple is situated opposite Narasinganpettai Mariammankoil Bus Stop. This temple is believed to be 1000 years old and revamped by the Vijayanagara Kingdom. Presiding Deity is Lord Narasimha found in his yoga posture and Lord Hanuman facing the Main deity. Yoga level Narasimha is believed to be more powerful than other Narasimha bodies. He will instantly eliminate all the evil, obstacles around us.



He is adored in four hands holding Shanka and Chakra in two hands and the other two hands are in Yoga Mudra. Utsava Idol is Prahalada Varadar with Sridevi and Bhoodevi. According to legend, Lord Vishnu was tormented with Brahmmahathi dosha for executing Hiranyakasipu. He meditated about Lord Shiva at Suyambu Natha Swamy Temple here to get help from Brahmmahathi dosha. Henceforth, Narasimha can be seen sitting in a meditative posture in this temple. Thus, the place came to be called Narasimhapuram and later got debased to Narasinganpettai.

A few groups feel that the incarnation of Narasimha is serious. This is one of the manifestations taken by Narayana to obliterate evil on the planet and build up great. The execution of Iran Yakasipu implies something very similar. It additionally shows that Narayanan won't forsake his devotees. Significance :

This temple is facing towards the east. Garudalwar can be found before the sanctum. There is a seperate shrine for Kariya Siddhi Anjaneya in the prakaram.There is a Unique tradition of offering Coconut to Lord Anjaneya in this temple. It is believed that their prayers will be answered in 11 weeks. Once their wish is fulfilled, they need to untie the coconut and need to perform archanai in Hanuman Shrine.




Devotees pray to Lord Narasimha to get alleviation from dark sorcery impacts and help from hopeless illnesses. They also offer Panakam (his most loved neivedyam) to Lord Narasimha. Narasimha Jayanti, Saturdays, Swathi Nakshatra days, Amavasai, and Pournami are the traditional rituals followed here.

The temple is open from 9 am to 1 pm and from 4 am to 7 pm.
