Thirumullaivoyal temple's presiding deities are Lord Masilamaneeswarar and Goddess Kodiyidai Nayaki Amman. It is widely spoken that, when a king cleared the mullai creepers he found a Shiva Lingam and then the king installed the Shiva Lingam as a sign of Lord Shiva was victorious in war.
