Once Afghanistan was considered to be a place of rich vedic culture . There were many Hindus residing in Afghanistan. Afghanistan was once a capital of Shahi Hindu king. But in recent days only few people follow Hinduism in Afghanistan.Maybe only 1000 Individuals follow Hinduism in Afghanistan and they reside at Kabul and only in other few major cities of the country.Few years ago the country was filled with major Hindus and Hindu temples with many Hindu deities. After the Independence of India many Hindus were forced to move to India.Remaining shifted after Barbari Masjid Tragedy. Many Hindu temples were destroyed what we have now is only like a very drops from a sea.

Asamai Temple in Kabul , Afghanistan

The Asamai temple is located at central Kabul (Foothill of a Mountain referred to as Koh-i-Asamai Asamai Mountain). This hill is named as Asamai after Asha, it is still believed that the Goddess of hope is present on the hilltop. Legend goes that the Akhand Jyoti or continuous fire there has been burning uninterrupted for over 4,000 years. The Temple and the Diva have survived many conflicts and wars for several decades, this is evidence itself that the Goddess of Hope is present at that auspicious location.

Specialty about this Asamai hill is that this temple still survives after many wars of Kabul. Many Hindu Devotees pay their obeisance . Many Hindu people who helped in reconstruction of this temple trust the  presence of Devi at this hill top.

Other amazing fact about this temple is that, the word Afghan is derived from the word Ariana. Please Dont wonder what this Ariana means its nothing but ARYANS who shifted from central Asia to Afghan before they reach India. Other Astonishing Fact About this Temple is that EARLIEST HINDU HYMNS OF RIG VEDA AND OTHER SCULPTURES ARE FOUND IN AFGHANISTAN STILL (HERAT AREA) . HERAT is the word derived from HARI-RUD. This is the river which separates Afghanistan from Turkmenistan and Iran.
