This temple is much famous for its car, which is the third biggest car in India. This temple is been situated in between two rivers (cauvery andArasalaru). This temple is almost 2000 years old. This was capital of Chola Dynasty. This is famous for its temple tower too. This temple is one of the 108 Deviya desham.

Sri Chakarapani Temple:
This Temple is hence called Chakrapani Temple because, the main diety is Sri Chakrapani also called Sudharshana Chakara which is in the right hand of Lord Vishnu. This was the Chakra that used to kill Demon Jalnthrasuran. Theertham in this temple is called Chakra Theertham.
Sri Nageshwara Temple:
Main Diety of this Temple is Adhishesha, Lord Surya and Nagaraja worshipped Adhishesha in this temple. This temple is also noted for its sculpture.Its one of the finest Chola Dynasty Temple.This temple is also know for its naga dhosha nivarthi temple.The sun’s rays fall on the lingam in the central shrine through an opening in the eastern tower for 3 days in a year – on the 11th, 12th and 13th days in the month of Chithrai (April / May).
