Sri Nithya Kalyana Perumal Thirukoil Thiruvidandai
Sri Nithya Kalyana Perumal dedicated to Lord Vishnu in Varaha Avatar, situated in Thiruvidanthai, a town in Chengalpattu district, Chennai. The main deities are Sri Lakshmi Varaha Perumal and utsavar as Sri Nithya Kalyana Perumal and Thayar Sri Komalavalli Nachiyar. History / Story of the Temple:
A rishi named "Kuni" along with his sishyas lived along the banks of the Saraswathi river, in Sambu Island. A little lady helped him and did every one of the essential necessities for him. In the wake of attaining the development, she began to do the tapas. One day Narada came towards her and said only Tapas from a married woman will be accepted and led to Moksha. On hearing this, the lady got worried about who will she wed. Kalava Muni, one of the disciples of Kuni, came forward and married her and they gave birth to 360 girls in a year. Soon Kalava Muni got worried as he needs to settle down all his daughters and need to get them married. Thus, he visited this temple and revered the Sri Aadhi Varaha Perumal.
At some point, the Perumal came there as a Brahmacchari (Bachelor) and said to Kalava muni that he will wed all of 360 young ladies every day. Since he wedded every one of the young ladies day by day, he is named as "Nithiya Kalyana Perumal". Nithiyam meaning every day and this sthalam is designated "Nithiya Kalyanapuri" and Sri Lakshmi - Periya Pirattiyaar lived as one of the 360 young ladies, this sthalam is likewise called as "Sripuri" and the Perumal giving the Sri Varaha avatar, it is classified "Varaghapuri".
The name of the primary young lady is Komalavalli. Along these lines, Sri Komalavalli has a different sannadhi in this shrine. Agilavalli thaayar is found on the left shoulder of the Perumal and Bhooma Devi is likewise found here close to him. This is the esteem of this sthalam.
Significance:
This temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams. It is also called Varaha Kshetram. This shrine is generally popular to offer best of luck to those wishing to get married, and it is believed that all the obstacles that prevent the marriage were eliminated by Lord's blessings.
The temple was built during the period of Pallavas. It is close to the seashore. A huge sanctuary tank is before the temple. This is known as the Kalyana Theertham . There is a different alayam for Sri Ranganathar and Komalavalli Nachiyar within the premises.
