· The moolavar of this temple is Kamakshi Amman and the
Thala Virutcham of this temple is Mango.
· This place is a holy place where Mother Kamakshi Amman
had to perform extreme penance by standing on single leg amid fire right before
her wedding with Lord Ekambareswarar at Kancheepuram.
· Sri Chakra is the most important and gathers all the
importance of the temple.
· Sri Kamakshi Amman temple is a very ancient temple and it is 2000 – 3000 years old. Its historical name is Sudha Vanam located at Mangadu, Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu.

Festivals Celebrated in this Temple
· Immense number of devotees gather at the 10 – day
Chithirai festival that’s held on April – May to seek the grace and blessings
of Mother Kamakshi.
· Other festivals that have to be mentioned are English
New Year day and Tamil New Year day. Pongal is celebrated on January 14th
almost every year.
· Navarathri is celebrated during the months of
September – October. Shivrathri and Masi Magam is celebrated in the months of
February and March.
· The crowd of devotees is almost unmanageable during
the time of festivals. Devotees actively participate and auspiciously celebrate
each festival.
Prayers and Thanks Giving by the Devotees

Unmarried
girls visit this temple and pray to Mother with a yellow thread in belief that
they’ll get married to a suitable person as Mother also performed penance here
and got wedded to the Lord in Kancheepuram. This prayer holds good for the men
also.

Devotees
also perform a six-week worship in this temple. They choose a day in the week
and begin the worship with a lime fruit and it continues on the same day in
each week to fulfill their wish.

who are praying for a child boon come with a cradle to seek blessings from the
Mother. Devotees also pray to get relieved from diseases and to attain
promotions in jobs.
