Masani Amman Temple:
Masani Amman temple is located in Anaimlai of Pollachi, Coimbatore district. This temple is one of the famous temples of Coimbatore. In Sangam Era, Anaimalai was known as Nannanur. The place was ruled by Nannan. There was a dense grove of mango trees belonging to him which was protected from outsiders. Once a girl bathing in the river took the mango floating on the water and ate it . The officials informed the news to the ruler. The poor girl was sentenced to death after this incident by the ruler of the region.
Filled with fury and indignation, the kith and the kin of the ill-faded woman took arms against the unsrupulous chieftain and killed him in a battle near Vijayamangalam. The body of the hapless women was buried in the graveyard. An image of hers was made and people started worshiping it every thursday and Friday. Soon a temple was built for the women, commemorating her martyrdom. In due course she was worshiped as 'Masani'.
