Shri Gorakka Siddhar Jeeva Samadhi | Nagapattinam Vadakku Poigainallur Gorakka Jeeva Samadhi | Korakkar Jeeva Samadhi | Jeeva Samadhi In Nagapattinam

Shri Gorakka Siddhar Jeeva Samadhi  :

Gorakka also spelled as Korakkar, a Tamil Siddhar, and one of the 18 praised Siddhars of Tamilnadu, born in Coimbatore. He was a disciple of the Siddhars Agathiyar and Bogar and is mentioned on different occasions in the works of Bogar. His Jeeva samadhi temple is in Vadukupoigainallur / North Poigainallur of the Nagapattinam region of Tamil Nadu. This temple is also called Theva Vaipu Sthalam. Since many saints have visited and worshipped in this place, this is also called Sidhashramam.

His some of the poetry works are Gorakkar Malai Vagatam (Korakkar's Mountain Medicines),Malai Vaakadam, Korakkar Vaippu, Kaalamegam, Marali Varadham, Nilaiyodukam, Chandhira Regai Nool.

Story & Significant History:

There is a unique quality in Gorakka that cannot be seen in other Siddhars. Usually, the poetries and works of all Siddhars have shallow importance and a characteristic - not understandable to the common world. Gorakka was the person who stood against this and he believed all the works of Siddhars should be understandable to the outside world. So he explained the importance of numerous Siddhar messages which didn't bode well. In such a way, he has written 16 verses.

The seven Siddhars, Idakadar, Agapai, Nandithevar, Machchamuni, Sattai Nathar, Brahmamuni, and Alukannar, who believed that they and their books would lose their pride if these books went to the rest of the world, came to Gorakka and convinced him to surrender the sixteen books created by him. Gorakkar immediately accepted their request without denying it, But he asked them to have dinner at his ashram and then leave. The seven Siddhars cheerfully consented to eat.

Gorakkar crushed the marijuana leaves blended in with rice lentils and served them to the Siddhars. They ate the food and quickly fainted. Taking advantage of the circumstance, Gorakkar summed up the 16 books he had composed and created a book called 'Chandrarekai'.The Siddhars got up from their rest, received the sixteen writings from the Gorakkar, and bid farewell. The books were annihilated by fire! This intriguing news is included in the book Chandrarekai!

Annakavadi At Siddhar Samadhi :

There is a special ritual happening at this shrine. At 7 pm, the priest of the ashram, carrying an AnnaKavadi on his shoulder, meanders the north and south roads of North PoigaiNallur. Two enormous pots hold tight the holder on one or the other side of the cauldron. Priest's "Annakkavadi Dharmam Thaye!" As the voice will remain in the entryway. Every one of the families living there are giving themselves to Annakkavadi with devotion and commitment.

In the wake of visiting the Annakkavadi Ashram, which conveys the maxim 'Suthannam', a night prayer is offered for Gorakkar Siddhar. At that point, Nagara sounds. On hearing that, the people start to eat in their homes. Dinner is also served to the devotees from this annam.
